Sinking Ship Entertainment Secures New Broadcast Deals

The cast of Phoenix Rise (BBC Studios Kids & Family)

Toronto, Canada (August 30, 2023) – Canada’s Sinking Ship Entertainment (SSE) announced today that it has landed deals for THE UNLISTED, PHOENIX RISE and ALMA’S WAY in Canada, Norway and Latin America respectively. These partnerships mark another milestone in the company's commitment to providing high-quality and engaging kids and family content to audiences worldwide.

French Canadian broadcaster Télé-Quebec has acquired the teen adventure show The Unlisted. Produced by Aquarius Films in Australia for the ABC and Netflix, this gripping series follows identical twins Dru and Kal as they discover that the government is secretly tracking and manipulating youth via electronic tracking devices. The series is launching January 8, 2024.

Meanwhile, NRK in Norway is the latest broadcaster to pick up the BBC Studios Kids & Family school drama Phoenix Rise. Produced for the BBC and distributed by SSE, Season I launched in the UK in March of this year and follows a group of teens who are taking their first steps back into mainstream education after being excluded. At first it seems like these kids have nothing in common, but they soon realise they all share a will to succeed. NRK joins previously announced broadcast partners ABC in Australia and YLE in Finland.

In further partnership news, SSE has signed Metro TV as its agent for the delightful animated preschool series ALMA’S WAY in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Panama and Ecuador. Produced by Fred Rogers Productions in association with Pipeline Studios for PBS Kids, ALMA’S WAY features the adventures of six-year old Alma as she learns to think for herself, make mistakes and find solutions along the way.

“We are pleased to see these shows continue to strike a chord internationally. It's a nod to their genuine appeal that goes beyond borders” says Kate Sanagan, Head of Sales and Distribution at SSE. “Our dedication to quality content remains steadfast, as does our belief in the power of imagination, education, and connection.”
